The backyard slide
Misty loved climbing onto the backyard playset—and sliding down the slide for a little extra speed.
The girl with the soft ears, the big heart, and more nicknames than any dog could possibly need.

In second grade, I begged my parents for a dog. My dad challenged me to prove I was ready by picking up after Sadie, our sweet old beagle. I took the challenge seriously. Misty eventually arrived, and for 16 wonderful years she was part of nearly every chapter of my life.
She was the kind of dog who wanted to be wherever her people were. If someone was alone at home, she'd find them and settle in nearby. She could turn an ordinary day into a memory just by following you from room to room.
Misty passed away in 2020. Her love is the reason this little business has her name.
Just a few of the nicknames our family gave her over the years.
Misty loved climbing onto the backyard playset—and sliding down the slide for a little extra speed.
She chased the hose in great figure eights, splashed in lakes, and retrieved sticks from the water.
She had a gift for finding whoever was home alone, lying nearby, and nudging a hand when the petting stopped.
She loved sleeping under the Christmas tree—and making herself part of the excitement when everyone opened gifts.
For years she borrowed a single shoe, usually one Mom had worn recently. Finding the matching pair could be a challenge.
Later in life, she chose the pace and direction of her walks. We followed her lead and took our time.
Some were classics, others were pure Misty.
She even climbed playground ladders and went down slides. And when we said “night-night,” she knew it was time to go to her kennel.

From the ordinary days to the unforgettable adventures, these are the real snapshots of the girl who inspired it all.

A determined boy and a challenge to earn his own dog.
Backyard games, family adventures, daily routines, and a loyal companion through it all.
The year I said goodbye to Misty.
Misty's is built around the care I learned by loving her.
I'd love to know their name, their quirks, and what makes them feel at home.
